I think we're having a communication failure... Color definitely affects the pixels painted on the screen, and depending on what color values the screen can paint, color may affect whether, say, text is visible on a background. Speaking of which: <div style="background: black"><span style="color: black">Text</span></div> Would you say that the <span> is visible? What if it had "opacity: 0"? What if it had "visibility: hidden"?
