Esteemed Ladies and Gentlemen,
Frankly, I'm amazed that you've survived the two weeks since the
last talk. By now, you're probably frothing at the mouth, jerking
violently around the greater Boston area, limbs trembling, vision
tunneled. In the early morning hours, I can hear you howling from
somewhere deep in the Fens, "NUBtalks! Nuuuuubtalks."

Addiction is a terrible thing, ladies and gentlemen, and we're
here with your fix. It gives me immense pride to present, on behalf
of NUBlabs, the second in a long series of NUBtalks this Sunday at 8
pm. This time, the talks will be at MIT, on the first floor of
building N51, aka the MIT museum building at 265 mass ave. (google map
here: http://tinyurl.com/6ewmb5).

To get in, just follow the handwritten signs, or call one of the
NUBs at 713.504.8802. There's parking on windsor st behind the
building, and the back parking lot is usually OK after hours(but no
guarantees).

But I'm getting ahead of myself. For the newcomers to this list,
please allow me to explain why you're getting these emails. What is
NUBtalks? What the heck is NUBlabs? Why all the NUBs?

NUB labs is everyone's favorite new Boston area smart-up.
Necessary Useful Beautiful, LLC is a group of handsome young
individuals dedicated to causing social change through technology.

NUB talks is a series of talks by interesting people that NUB is
organizing and hosting. Every other week, there's going to be a few
speakers, each giving a short talk on something they're doing that's
exciting. It's an opportunity for us all to see what other
interesting things are going on around us and meet the people doing
those things. We want you to come, eat our pizza, drink our beer,
hear the talks and just get to know each other. An environment of
mutual excitement and interest is a beautiful thing, and we want to
cultivate it.

By the way--the audio and blurbs from the previous talks is now
online at www.nubtalks.com Check it out, give it a listen, leave a
comment, be web2.0!

We have two fantastic speakers this Sunday, Clay Ward and Alex Hornstein.

Clay Ward is one of the founders of bilumi.org (Buy It Like U
Mean It), a consumer advocacy nonprofit aimed at empowering consumers
to choose products made by socially responsible companies. He will be
talking about his experiences starting bilumi and working with
volunteers to put together a large-scale project.

Alex Hornstein(www.artiswrong.com) is one of the founders of
NUBlabs, everybody's favorite local smart-up. He's involved in just
about everything, from solar power to teaching to surfing. He will be
talking about Perfect Girls.

So, to summarize:
NUBtalks, this Sunday at 8 in N51(the MIT museum building). 265
Massachusetts avenue.

We can't wait to see you all there!
--Nubbie and the nubs.

Please help us choose between several innovative ways to help bilumi
become financially self sustainable. We are beginning a process of
business planning and your input will help direct that process. Click

We already know that we don't want to host ads on our site or charge
user fees. We have been collecting substantial donations from our
supporters (thanks!!!), but independent revenue sources could really
help us develop our tools and bring them to more people. So please
help us choose which ideas most match our vision, which will make the
most money, and which we can set up easily. All of the options have
been chosen because they support our educational mission. Your
answers to 17 questions will help us test each one for conflicts of
interest that we might have missed.

Thanks and feel free to begin a live discussion by commenting on this
post. Woohoo!
