I don't have a lot to add to the already great points made on the list,
but I will say: I think there's value in concretely defining the schema
*even if* we don't do all the work to validate against it.  It's a great
tool for communicating clearly amongst ourselves.

I have no strong opinions on JSONSchema specifically, but I also don't
expect us to have particularly complicated needs, so we should be able
to migrate away from it if it turns out to have horrible downsides in
practice.
