Hi Jim, note that by default, the password is not enough. A malicious person would also need access to your email (although this might be the case depending on the extent of your password theft).
The two-factor authentication described by Shane that you can add to increase security can be enabled by following these steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/secure-firefox-account-two-step-authentication I hope that's helpful. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any further questions. -- Alex Davis // Vancouver Product Manager // Application Services (514) 582-2539 IRC & Slack: adavis On Tue, Oct 2, 2018 at 10:18 AM Shane Tomlinson <stomlin...@mozilla.com> wrote: > Hi Jim, > > We do not utilize dual passwords, but we do offer multi-factor > authentication using a form of one time password called TOTP > <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-based_One-time_Password_algorithm>. > TOTP codes are used in addition to your password and are > generated by standalone apps such as Google Authenticator > <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en_GB> > . > > Shane > > > On Tue, Oct 2, 2018 at 6:13 PM Jim Kennedy <kenn...@umn.edu> wrote: > >> I've recently learned that I've been a victim of password theft. >> >> Does Firefox offer an authentication system involving dual passwords? >> >> If so, I'd be grateful for information. >> >> Thank you, >> >> Jim Kennedy >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Dev-fxacct mailing list >> Dev-fxacct@mozilla.org >> https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-fxacct >> > _______________________________________________ > Dev-fxacct mailing list > Dev-fxacct@mozilla.org > https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-fxacct >
