Hi Karl, The simplest example of "open OS" is baking the discovery of add-ons into the core experience (ie. right from the homescreen). While Android offers some customization capabilities, they are somewhat limited in that they cannot apply broadly across the OS and their discoverability is poor (ie. Go to Google Play > Personalization > download a launcher > download a complementing themepack). That's just one example. We're trying to consider across the board how we can offer more choice.
As for "puts Web content first", obviously our OS inherently puts Web content first, but by this we mean a number of things including some specific ideas. It is worth noting that it's quite early in the process so nothing is definitive yet and a number of discussions are needed. Examples: - Explore search partnerships to surface (through rankings and/or different UX) websites making use of technologies like web manifest/serviceworkers - Enable users to shape their core device experience by building (or using) "canvases" of content and sharing those with others. There is much to work through here, but inspiration is coming from some of the concepts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEbp98iCHj8 As things evolve, we'll post more.
