I need a cogent explanation why I as a developer attempting to operate a business am apparently being prevented by Mozilla and Panasonic to help other small businesses because we are not being allowed to use the FirefoxOS running on Panasonic devices to build HTML picture-in-picture apps (PIP) that support the display of a TV program on the same screen as our content generated by our app.
I work with bar owners, restaurant owners and other types of small businesses that use TV sets on their premises. All of them want me to develop HTML-PIP apps for them but when I tell them that it still costs ~$395-$895 for an extra "media player" that supports HTML-PIP and every TV screen needs an HTML-PIP media player that kills any chance to develop digital signage and connected TV apps that run on a TV set. And that's just entry level. If I am wrong Mozilla should be documenting how to build HTML-PIP applications. Panasonic should be documenting how to build HTML-PIP applications. None of the split screen and other crippled barriers that some TV manufacturers have been compromising with but HTML-PIP as we know it has existed in hardware so many years which is why we also know it is legal and lawful to do so. HTML-PIP is the Holy Grail of TV app development. When do we (I) get to build the real thing? Hi all, I’m currently revisiting the plan for Firefox OS 2.5 release documentation, and I’ve got NFC payments and replaceable homescreens on my plan. I basically need to know: * If these features are making it into the release * Who is working on this functionality that I can talk to, to find out more details about what is needed WRT docs. thanks!
