As I know there's a pending addon made by Shing Lyu that can add the back 
button on soft button panel(did I spoil something? ;)). I also made an 
experimental patch with the history api, so Settings app could also work with 
the back button. 

That means we do able to provide the back button functionality. and for in-app 
navigation with back button, its also possible if we Choose to support it.
