the goal of the project at the moment is to help KaiOS update their system and phones to a modern Gecko. While KaiOS is a fork of Firefox OS it's very different; it's designed to work on smart feature phones with physical keyboards. Old Firefox OS phones are certainly incompatible with it. However if you're looking for a system to modernize your old devices I recommend trying PostmarketOS [1] which is a fantastic, community-driven effort.
