It means that variant articles will not be automatically assigned to Category, when Parent article is assigned in AJAX list. But still you can assign variant articles to category as before, when the option "Display Variants in Assignment Lists in eShop admin" (in System settings) is ON. Please let us know, if such behavior would harm something.
