First of all "hello" to this list.
I just testet the OXID eXchange Admin integration.
It's really nice to have direct access now and with an "one click module
installation" this could really boost up module-sales.
Though the search function is pretty bad right now. In fact if you do
not exactly know how a needed module is named, it's difficult to find it.
So it would be nice to improve the search algorithm with the following
functions:
1. should be case-insensitive
2. should use a SOUNDEX-Method
3. should split searchphrases by spaces and doing separated AND-combined
searches for each resulting keyword (regarding 1. and 2.)
As i see the search is redirected directly to
"http://exchange.oxid-esales.com/index.php";,
so it should be possible to improve this without a shop update.

Yes. Intentionally! We are going to give short technical previews here
for developers, subscribers of this list. All those are capable of
understanding technology without many ‘shiny’ words and get the point
quickly :). And here are all technicians of OXID partners subscribed
anyway, aren’t they?
You understand that right now we’re pretty busy to get it up and
running for beta. We focus on that. And even beta is kind of preview.

Fully right. As soon we’ve out beta with all the new technology we
start to do lessons by screencasts and prepare documentation as well
as tutorials and examples. From beta to final there’s still some time
to get introduced in it :)
BTW: You might have noticed that since 4.4.4 there is easy access to
OXID eXchange included in OXID admin? Well ;). Together with module
installer which will come soon you might guess in what direction that
is about to be going … :)

posted so far even for the OXID partners... shouldn't they also know
how to work with this new module installation feature?

4.5.0 will still come before Christmas. Besides a newly designed store
front, it will contain some interesting enhancements to the Smarty
Template Engine (inheritance) and a module and template installer.
