As far as I see it now this tab is entirely unnecessary...
Nobody could tell me the sense of it so far. There is no additional benefit
of it, the settings there can be made more clearly at other spots in
shop-admin.
- You can change payment method of certain orders directly below Administer
Orders -> Orders -> Tab "Main".
- You have no indication to a certain order in Tab "Payment" below
"Administer Users". How could you tell where to change?
- All payment methods are set by assigning within shipping methods
If you (OXID, not you personally) want to carry this throughout the whole
cycle of 4.6.x - well, no changes needed then.
I think this tab is deprecated and not needed any more. I will open a Bug
for that.
There is even some more strange things around that tab in code, just have a
look at this one:
Methode getUserpayments:
foreach ( $this->_oPayments as $oPayment ) {
// add custom fields to this class
$oPayment = $myUtils->assignValuesFromText(
$val->oxuserpayments__oxvalue->value );
}

Ray, 4.6.0 is entirely done, we are about to prepare everything for the
release. Would be good to talk about this topic next week again, maybe enter
a bug or whatever to don't get it out of sight.
Thanks
Marco

Subject: Re: [oxid-dev-general] Use of Tab "Payment"?
Hi Alfonsas
Thanks for enlighten me!
Anyway, I see no use to assign a default payment method directly for the
user. Normally those settings are made by defining user groups, shipping
cost rules and shipping methods. You will lose overview very quickly when
you assign rules and behavior to single customers.
And what effect does it have?
Is this payment method set here preselected in checkout then? Does this
setting overwrite all other settings from user group or shipping rule? Does
it mean, the customer cannot choose some other payment method?
Is there any benefit to set it in this tab rather than defining all possible
payment methods by using shipping cost rules and shipping methods?
Could you at least add a tooltip in 4.6.0 to this tab?
Regards
Ray

Hi Raimund,
This tab is used to assign default payment method for user.
We will not remove it, but will try to improve it later.

If this is a useless tab, please get rid of it in 4.6.0 - as this is
otherwise just confusing.

Any hints?
It´s intended for what? How to use?
Or is this deprecated?

Betreff: [oxid-dev-general] Use of Tab "Payment"?
Hi there OXID developers!
I´m wondering about the tab "Payment" in Administer Users -> Users - as I
can see no deeper meaning. It just collects the payment methods used by the
user for each order. I have a regularly buying customer which has now around
30 times "invoice" in the left dropdown. I just can have a look at them,
nothing else.
So what is this tab intended to be? What happens when assigning another
payment method with the right dropdown?
Is there a manual or FAQ for it?
Regards
Ray
