Hello,

I see that many modules need additional database fields, and that this is where install automation comes in handy. And yet: metadata is ment to keep changes in the modules folder, while installation routines enable developers to simply change files all over the system.
Wrong incentives could arise thereby.

In the long term, the metadata should help to decorate tables with additional rows without altering them, by generating separate tables per module that are joined in the views. With system performances rising, we can afford some microseconds for the sake of saved development hours.
