hi Hanno,
Thanks much for your response.
I'd trying something without the API key. I'd most likely try creating a
little java app to convert opencellid measurements csv files and
uploading the data i've collected personally. For now, i'm still
procrastinating on developing it due to a busy personal work life :)
by the way is there a way i can insert myself in the leaderboard through
the API? https://location.services.mozilla.com/leaders
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi.
We considered adding a csv upload option in the past, but discarded that idea.
There are at least a dozen different stumbling apps out there, each one of them
with a different data format, ranging from csv files, to sqlite database to xml
files.
If you want to contribute data gathered in a different app to us, you'll need
to convert the data yourself and send it to us via our geosubmit batch API
(http://mozilla-ichnaea.readthedocs.org/en/latest/api/index.html#geosubmit). If
you have some code to do so, best put it up somewhere as open-source code, so
others might use it or contribute to it as well.
As for the api key part, you don't need an api key to send data to us and if
you are an individual contributor, we'd prefer if you didn't use any api keys
for submission. We do store the uploaded data by api key, so if we have one api
key for a single person, that would allow us to determine their movements
fairly easily - something we definitely don't want to do or even be able to do.
We only use api keys for submission to differentiate popular apps from each
other, so we can report back problems to the right app or add service side
workaround for client side problems. We also get broad stats from this to see
which app is most popular and is submitting the most data to us.
So if you want to develop an app for personal use, just let it submit data
without specifying any api key.

hi administrators for location.services.mozilla.com,
I've various files containing cell tower measures in the opencell ID
measurements format:Menu map view - OpenCellID wiki
However, i've not been able to find a means to upload/contribute that data into
location.services.mozilla.com.I'd need api key etc.
Can location.services.mozilla.com provide:1) A means to automatically obtain a
unique API key, either via the API or some web sites? (e.g. registriation)?2) A
means to upload collected opencell ID data into location.services.mozilla.com,
say via a web page interface?
Thanks and regards, Andrew
In addition, personally I'd like to request for an API key as i'd like to
develop an offline java app to upload the data into
location.services.mozilla.com say via the http API.
