CMSU:SimpleSearch - not working for data items

Using the simpleSearch taglib doesn't working for searching items out of the
data workspace, while a similar query in the JCR-Query Tool does returning me
an entry.
That's what my tag looks like:
<cmsuimpleSearch query="presse" var="results" repository="data"
useSimpleJcrQuery="false" itemType="mgnl:dataItem"/>
No errors are shown in the log, just no entries returned.
