surprise or unweighted risk. And you can ask anyone here, they'll confirm I'm pretty bitchy about this ;)

Confirmed without any doubt ;-) But being responsible for QA it is Greg's duty to play the gatekeeper.

Following some remarks from my side. I prefer the term guidelines as rules might imply that there are no exceptions possible. The main point is that any exception needs acknowledge from the majority of the team and also from the product owner who has its own priorities. This means that it needs more than one individual for promoting an issue being a blocker.

Obviously it is not that fair as internal developers have a big advantage over external committers and most of this discussions are none public. Hence we should make that process a bit more transparent. But it is quite time consuming as many discussions are aural (I have to write a protocol then) and chat logs/protocols also contain data which we cannot publish for various reasons. Unfortunately most of the wiki pages are maintained internally, a topic we will raise on the next meeting. An intermedium solution could be to open the internal dev space to committers.

Please also take the fact into account that once we start to build the RC we are normally a bit short of time (press release ready, customers waiting, project dependencies, ...). At this time we regularly work some extra hours to finalize things, hence it is not that surprising that we are less flexible than we would be otherwise.

Anyway, we normally all meet in the irc channel #magnolia- dev(irc.freenode.net). Despite the fact that it is not meant to be a public meeting point all committers and module developers are definitely very welcome. I am sure that a short discussion in advance will lower the barrier for accepting such commits. At least it accelerates the decision process.

Being happy that Magnolia 4.1 / STK 1.1 is ready and mainly seeing forward.

Cheers!
