The solution to this is to set
{{info.magnolia.module.data.lists.DataAwareInbox}} as a class for inbox and
{{info.magnolia.module.data.lists.DataAwareSubPagesList}} as a class for
subPages. The more flexible permanent solution is described in MAGNOLIA-2818.
