Somethings missing on your classpath. Most likely magnolia-core/src/main/resources where there is mgnl-bean.properties where all the default implementations are defined. Normally resources would end up in the jar created by maven, but I'm assuming you are running from eclipse with Magnolia sources imported as projects there and having eclipse to resolve project dependencies from workspace. IF that is not the case then just verify you have that file in your magnolia-core.jar
