Hi,
Thanks a lot
Today I purchased the book "Magnolia CMS Technical Guide". Its seems useless
as far as the STK Template tutorial is concerned. Can anybody help me out
How can I create the template using STK. I don't want to make the changes in
STK sample, I want to create my own template.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for such detail oriented reply. I have only one more question,
I will be really thankful to you if you reply this as well
I have developed the spring module using blossom API, which is very very
good feature of magnolia for allowing the developer to develop a module in a
easy way. My question is that is there is any way that I can develop the
module using JSF if yes then can you please guide me?
Do you have any JSF based framework/library in mind?
In general you would need something to handle ajax callback so you need to
write a servlet for that and put it in the magnolia filter chain.
Other then that it really depends on how deep do you want to take the jsf
integration. For simple paragraphs you might be able to use jsp template
type and add all necessary tag libraries. For more complex things you would
need to write your own template/paragraph renderer for templates. But it can
be done. There was proof of concept for this in sandbox written as far back
as Magnolia 3.0. That code would be now obsolete, but it shows that Magnolia
can run with JSF based templates.
I would think that now you get much more flexibility with Freemarker +
Jquery & custom callback servlet for ajax stuff, but that is just my
opinion.

Jan
Thanks in Advance

Hi,
We are now a days are looking for WCMS for our client ecommerce site. We
choose three CMS for evolution, so far I like Magnolia, I have done lot with
the community edition and two days ago I download the trail version of
Enterprise edition, I have created the module and used in my demo site. But
I am not feeling comfortable with the following two things, I will
appreciate if you people could help me a bit about these:
1- I have created a simple template but how can I create the template
like "Magnolia_blogger_template", I have downloaded it , Everything else is
done but the menu of button 2, how can I create the menu like button 2. IS
THERE IS ANY Step by step guide available that help me to create the
template and menu as give in magnolia blogger template, if yes then can you
provide me
I guess you've already seen and followed
http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/templating/introduction.html
For more advanced topics on templating I suggest reading STK book. You can
find it at http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/templating/stk.html or you
can get your templating guide printed copy from Amazon.
And of course you can take a training. Magnolia and STK offers you lots of
possibilities for templates creation and many extension points. But it also
takes some time to learn about your options and which approaches are best
for which situation. The training takes 5 full days with many exercises
showing the power of Magnolia and ways how to tackle different needs.
Unfortunately there are no shortcuts or 60seconds summary of type "All you
need to know about Magnolia" simply because it would have to be limited to
configuring existing templates rather then to writing new ones.
2- How can I apply the security on individual paragraph of a particular
area
Magnolia security sets granularity at page level. The only way you can apply
security per paragraphs (or areas) is by coding the security yourself in
templates or models for such particular cases.
3- Is there is any way I can manage the all the user including the
Customer of the site, By the customer of site I mean the end user who use
ecommerce site for shopping and purchasing of product.
Yes, you can add arbitrary amount of user realms into Magnolia and you can
configure separate user managers for them, allowing such users to be backed
by different user data sources. This way you can keep your regular users in
Magnolia or AD while having the customers stored again in Magnolia (under
different realm) or completely outside in your CRM app or other LDAP tree.
You can find public user registration module in the list of CE modules that
maintains "public" user realm and supports self registration of users for
such realm.
