AJAX usage in a CMS
-------------------
Key: DOCU-215
URL: http://jira.magnolia-cms.com/browse/DOCU-215
Project: Documentation
Issue Type: Task
Security Level: Public
Components: content
Reporter: Antti Hietala
Assignee: Ruth Stocks
A generic AJAX paragraph is currently being developed. The paragraph retrieves
content and data from any workspace and displays it on the site.
To do:
* Find typical AJAX usage examples on the Web. What problems is this technology
being used to solve?
* How can AJAX be used in a CMS context?
* What Magnolia tasks can be made easier with AJAX? The mechanism can also be
used in AdminCentral, not only on Web pages. The data source (workspace) for
the paragraph is configurable.
* List findings in this ticket or create a new documentation page under
paragraph reference.
* Find 3-4 illustrative and meaningful examples that we can use in the eventual
documentation.
The paragraph ships with a predictive text input showcase. In the example, a
page has a contact search text box. User types a few letters of a contact's
name into the box such as "Jo". The box turns into a dropdown list, displaying
matching contact names from the data workspace such as "John Smith, Jonathan
Wyles, Annie Johnson" etc. User selects a contact from the list. A standard

is rendered below the box, displaying the selected contact's details.
