Naming of variables in the servlet is confusing. It's not really an extension
what you are looking for. What you are looking is validating the path and right
now every path that contains dot in a name is invalid. It might be best to
extract this piece of code in a {{protected boolean isValidPath(String path)}}
method so it's clear what you do and anyone can change that behaviour should
they need so.
