Hi Arik, AFAIK magnolia is using Guice and not Spring, but maybe I'm confused...
I looked at both BPM engines in some detail, and both have their pros and cons... in the end both are very good products. IMHO jBPM has the slight edge in terms of tooling with the jBPM Eclipse Workbench (or whatever it is called) and its Guvnor and Drools components. Both of them unfortunately have storage to relational DBs hardwired into them, so neither product integrates perfectly with magnolia's JCR storage. However, I think the workflow APIs at the outermost level are going to be "engine agnostic" - ie to swap in Activiti instead of jBPM will be a matter of implementing a small "adaption layer" connecting the magnolia workflow API to Activiti I'm really excited about the new workflow - its going to be a cool feature, and its about time they retired the now more than dead OpenWFE workflow engine... I am curious about the decision to go with jBPM vs the Activiti jBPM engine. My main arguments for Activiti I suppose is its ease of use, the neat Process Explorer which allows non-programmers to write ad-hoc processes using the GUI, great docs and seamless integration with Spring which is core to Magnolia as well. I must admit that I don't have much experience with jBPM but would love to hear the dev team thoughts on it. -Arik -- Context is everything: http://forum.magnolia-cms.com/forum/thread.html?threadId=ce8a70ce-d4b4-466d-8be4-0d2ea417d83f ---------------------------------------------------------------- For list details, see: http://www.magnolia-cms.com/community/mailing-lists.html Alternatively, use our forums: http://forum.magnolia-cms.com/ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <[email protected]> ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- For list details, see: http://www.magnolia-cms.com/community/mailing-lists.html Alternatively, use our forums: http://forum.magnolia-cms.com/ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <[email protected]> ----------------------------------------------------------------
