I'm proposing a set of changes to the current app and UI as a result of a review of a snapshot version built to address MGNLRSSAGG-143.
That snapshot was intended to be somewhat close to release, but I've found several issues which let me to do a full review of the entire UI. I'm attaching a clickable PDF prototype to this issue that shows my entire proposal.
I think we should invest some more time into this to fix various problems we currently have and to bring the app up-to-par with other apps (which, granted, also have problems still - no app is perfect ![]() ).
In summary, my proposal covers these points:
- change the app name to simply "RSS"
- use a different icon for an aggregator
- a set of wording improvements all over the UI to increase consistency and reduce wordiness
- fix the ugly, squashed edit UI for editing feeds (and filters) with the means we currently have
- add-in the "override" functionality described by MGNLRSSAGG-143
- make sure the changed UI adhere's to the style guide again
- re-add a set of features we had in the previous version:
- the manual "import" and "update" capabilities
- the "RSS planet" option and configuration (if still needed)
- re-add again an easy way to schedule periodic imports in addition to the proposed "cron" scheduling
I believe we should fix most of these for the next version, but as I said, this is a proposal I'd like to discuss first.
