Already we have seen a lot of confusion about what it exactly does. It's name is misleading. Customers get the impression that this field can be configured anywhere and it will upload to the DAM. Not true. This field was originally designed for use in the DAM to accommodate the additional features like, editing images. We should be careful about whether or not it should be supported in dialogs for example. Already we are seeing issues there. We know that linking to the DAM works. We should present that as best practice. Thus, making this field irrelevant anywhere else. I think we should be careful in how we present this field to customers. Let's remove it from here https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/List+of+fields. Let's instead cover it here https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/Assets+app. If not, we could be opening the door for a lot of unintended use of the field.
