Hi Harold
that sounds very interesting. Would you care to provide a spec so
that we can discuss it?
The SimpleExchangeServlet is meant to be replaced by more elaborate
exchange mechanisms. Any "limitations" are deliberate ;-)
Also, workflow might be something to look into for your use case of
firing actions after activation.

Hi developers,
I'm currently working on unidirectional replication system
including asynchronous communications between instances. (My
company agrees to give it to the community when it will be finished
and tested).
Concerning the replication system I'm working on the class
SimpleExchangeServlet.java because I'd like to add many other
actions after basic activation on the public instance. But I
noticed that all functions are private so I can't extend the class
to add my actions. So don't you think that it would be great that
developers would be able to add action as I'm doing?
So I propose to apply a template pattern, so the basic functions
will have to be executed and developers can add other actions.(See
the patch attached)
Would you be interested in my replication system and all of its
features?
Of course I'll create a new module which will be completely
independent with a new repository for the asynchronous
communication system.
Even if you aren't, could you integrate my patch attached?
Thanks in advance.
