There are very good reasons to keep them. Not everyone with a running magnolia is able to debug (system access, not skilled, needs to much time). To give them the possibility to increase the logging level is very helpful. There is a good chance that a developer can see what is happening. I wished many times to have more and better logs to do so.

Oliver and I meant removing the isDebugEnabled calls, which clutter the code and are irrelevant with slf4j (use methods with message formatting, which formats the message lazily, i.e only if debug is enabled, and hides it from you - no need to concat the strings manually) - not removing the log statements themselves :)
