Activating multiple inbox workitems (with subpages) throws an exception

I had 2 workitems each of which contained about 50 or so subpages.
After "Proceeding" on one then the other I get an exception below..
If I "proceed" on one item then wait for command to finish then "proceeed" on
the other item everything is fine...
