Did you check if this is really a problem with EL functions or not?
The jspc message reports that the cmsfn namespace is not bound, I
though it was not related to the tld not being found, and not to the
presence of functions vs tags...
Well, turns out it only fails in reactor mode. When building the
samples module separately, it seems to work. I vaguely remember
having had the same issue with dms, but I'm not sure that's been
fixed ...
