It has been my recommendation for a future version to have the option to do
some simple database stuff and perhaps some Perl::DBI hooks so any database
out there could be used as a back end without too much trouble at all. The
main reason I see a use for it is generating custom reports and for when
there is connective and outages to keep taking registrations and resync
later.
