It is only an artifact of NSI's original stupidity. In fact, the current RFC process for inter-registrar protocol explicitly allows both single IP to multiple names and single name to multiple IP's, see: http://www.ietf.cnri.reston.va.us/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-provreg-grrp-reqs-02.txt for details. I confirmed with the author of this draft that the current limitation was NSI's and that they would be forced to update their database when this RFC becomes the standard. HTH John Peacock
