You could try using the Link buttons and creating a Javascript type component:
 
javascript:{void(term=prompt(Enter domain:',''))}if(domain)location.href='http://whois.bw.org/?domain='+escape(domain)'
 
Note that bw.org will not let you refer to their whois, however this gives you an idea.

Does anyone know of a toolbar style add-in for web browsers that will let you run a whois lookup?
 
For example, Google has a toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/) that you can install onto a PC which integrates a Google Search Field into your browser's toolbar.  I'd like to find something similar to this, but instead of searching via Google I'd like to perform a WhoIs lookup.
