I'm sure you are aware of the very simple logic in the perl client code
that tacks prefixes and suffixes onto the name, if not, now you are.

With that said, Oingo has approached us a few times and if I remember
correctly, one way they charge is by the lookup.

I haven't surveyed the market lately for any open source tools that do
this.  Have you checked sourceforge, freshmeat, etc.?
