Actually, it's not too bad as long as you know the right incantations to use and hold your mouth just right. See http://www.atlcon.net/opensrs/nt-howto-SF.htm (CAVEAT: This is spectacularly out of date now! I'll update it when I upgrade everything...obviously, given the most recent posts from OpenSRS, I guess I'll be using the OSRS code rather than the SF client).

I fiddled around with building an ASP.NET client, too, but finally gave it up as I have more pressing needs and can get by with the Perl client OK.
