Again I don't understand exactly what you mean here, but it's important to have tests that are invalid according to the syntax rules of section 3.1; we need to verify that non-conforming WebVTT files are parsed correctly according to the rules of sections 3.2 and 3.3. We know from bitter experience that authors will create non-conforming content and need to get consistent results across browsers for such content :-).
