I thought it would be good to send out a summary of what happened in regards to
WebVTT at FOMS for whoever is interested.

The main focus topics were:

FCC complianceUnifying the VTTRegion and VTTCue layout algorithmsHLS of WebVTT

Outcomes of discussions:

Region and cue width and heights will be specified in emsImplicit regions for
plain cues in order to unify the layout algorithmsRegions will be flexible and
grow with text when they can't contain all of itHLS WebVTT will be worked on
soon by Silvia (discussion was done, but no concrete conclusions)
WebVTT is very close to FCC compliance. The one point lacking was scroll up
being done correctly in regions. With the changes to regions listed above this
will be fixed.

New Features Proposed:

The folks at JW Player showed off some features they worked into their player
that they want to see in WebVTT. Most of these new features Silvia had
requested of them last year to put into JW Player so that we could see a demo
of them:

Tooltip Thumbnails:

Chapter Markers and UI

They also showed a way that chapters could be done with a left pop-out pane
that has a the list of chapters with thumbnails, etc.

Various Demos (use Chrome for them to work…):
