We could do that, it's a matter of finding the time, and we're stretched
pretty thin at the moment. :(
As for the poster image, it is definitely being dimmed down / grayed out. It's
as if the video control overlay is obscuring the image.
You're correct. This is exactly what is happening.

Not just the big fat play button, not just the transport controls. The entire
image is being partially obscured. I can upload a screen shot somewhere if you
like.
