I've used the logs in the past to deal with misleading timestamps for the "buffered messages" that the mochitest test frameworks output which makes the log output very misleading. I filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1607255 on that. This use case probably doesn't justify keeping the JSON structured logs around, though.
