Resending to the list as it doesn't seem to have made it.

Subject: RE: Help Develop a User Data and Services Code

Hi Stacy,

Is there an existing "code of practice for user data and services" that we can
reference? Or is it strictly just the Manifesto[1] and the Six Privacy
Principals[2]?

How will this new "User Data and Services Code" be used by Mozilla? Will it
inform decisions being made about products and features? Will it be used to
guide internal and/or community behaviors?

I'm also wondering how you will balance the discussion if everyone is
passionate about security and privacy. What if an outcome of this new "code"
is that Firefox should default to "Private Browsing mode" because it offers the
greatest security and privacy to users? That may be a reasonable outcome for a
policy focused solely on improving security and privacy. It seems like there
should be a counterweight for user expectations and usability, and I'm
wondering if you've already contemplated this?

Subject: Help Develop a User Data and Services Code

We are looking for 3-5 Mozilla contributors who have a passion for safe,
secure, private, and trustworthy user experiences and would like to join us for
a full day meeting in San Francisco on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

The purpose of this meeting will be to write a new code of practice for user
data and services. The aim of this code is to articulate our commitments to
user safety, security, and privacy and establish accountability for achieving
those goals. The code will build on the Mozilla Manifesto and the existing six
Mozilla privacy principles.

If you think you’d like to join us, please email Stacy Martin
<mailto:[email protected]> by June 12th and tell us how you can add value to
this meeting. We will notify the chosen participants by June 14th.

Note: travel support may be available.
