Hi Srirang,
I am CC'ing the Mozilla Static Analysis list so that others within the
community will also be aware that you and the students from India are
going to be working on these Mozilla bugs.
For Moz Static Analysis folks reading this, please watch out for a bunch
of students in bugzilla, on #static or #education in irc, etc. and help
welcome them.
Dave
P.S. Srirang is brahmana on irc.

Hi David,
Hope things are going good at your end.
I wanted to update you about the work SJCE students are doing. We had a very
elobarate meeting on IRC today (in #sjce). Minutes of that meeting will be
put up shortly. 6 out of the 8 students have a bug which they will be
working on. Of the remaining two, one had chosen the signed array index bug
and Benjamin Smedberg suggested that she should pick up another bug as there
is no clarity about the one that was picked. And the other one has chosen
this https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=542364, but it has an
assignee and there is a patch too, though without any flags. So I wanted to
know if the patch was more like a WIP patch and there is still enough work
left for the student, or whether she should instead choose a different one?
Also, the students have put in a comment in their respective bugs saying
they would like to take up those bugs. I thought it would be good to inform
Jesse and Benjamin Smedberg that a bunch of students from SJCE, Mysore,
India will start working on static analysis. It will probably be apparent
from the bug comments now, but a formal notification would be better as they
will invariably require guidance from all of you. So can you please pass
along the notification to them? (them == Jesse/Smedberg/other static folks..
)
They will have downloaded all the sources and built SM and probably GCC with
plugin support too by the end of this week. Starting from next week they can
actually start writing scripts with deHydra and doing some simple analysis
work, like getting all the class names etc. They are fairly used to IRC now
and I will get them to #education sometime this week when they start
building GCC and deHydra.
That's about it from my side. I will try and blog about this before it
becomes a very old event. And I will keep you updated. Hope you don't mind
the spam. :-)
