Appists!
r2d2b2g is a project building a Firefox OS test environment called
Firefox OS Simulator. I'm going to start updating this list periodically
about our status. Here's my first update!
*Feature Complete**For V1*
Kevin Dangoor wrote a PRD
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OptOCWO4b_b1aa4Gtwr82_q-mW5ybteoWNpPAJUIFNk/edit>
and a v1 spec
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S538182p1zwCAFHvIRTYCu0LkdHLVh3KZCVhOdKbh1Q/edit>
defining a Minimum Viable Product, and yesterday we implemented the last
essential feature in the spec. So Simulator is now feature-complete for v1!
We still have some issues to address before we ship, and we're still
gathering feedback on the feature set, so things could change. But as it
stands, we don't expect to implement additional features for v1, and we
expect to ship v1 in a few weeks (November 28? December 5?).
*Version 0.7 Available*
We spin new versions weekly, on Wednesdays, and version 0.7 is now
available for Windows
<https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/labs/r2d2b2g/r2d2b2g-windows.xpi>,
Mac
<https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/labs/r2d2b2g/r2d2b2g-mac.xpi>,
and Linux
<https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/labs/r2d2b2g/r2d2b2g-linux.xpi>. It
includes the rest of the essential features in the v1 spec, plus some
key bug fixes. In particular, it works on more Windows installations,
and the Home button works on Linux. Give it a try!
*Weekly Status Meetings*
The team meets weekly to review our progress and plan our next steps.
Meetings are Wednesdays at 1pm PT (21:00 UTC) and last half an hour. If
you have an update, or you just want to hear the latest news, please
join us!
We meet in the /Mozilla Apps/ Vidyo room (vroom!), and those of you in
Mozilla's Mountain View and San Francisco offices can also find us in
the /SFO 324 Bay Bridge/ and /MTV 3P Peanut Butter Jelly/ physical rooms
(phrooms!).
