David Walsh (CCed) also recently worked on an x-tag called "drag box"
that is intended to work on Firefox OS, perhaps he has some input on
this.

Yes, it will work on the phone. I think you simply need to use the
touchmove/touchend events. You could look at the code for Gaia's homescreen,
which allows you to drag/drop apps, for ideas
