It is time we look at and proactively have a solution for malicious apps. I know that there are those looking at the malware problem today and . This problem and scope of this is to have a way to protect users from malware once it gets onto their device in the role of Marketplace, the trusted originator of the content.
The scope of this is to solve the problem for Marketplace. While we may have a great review process with many preventative measures, ultimately it can't be perfect. There are deceptive people out there who exploit others, and we should be prepared to have a response so that we maintain a level of trust. It implies that there exists things that may not exist today (such as a blocklist that is controlled by some authority), and it implies we develop clear policies and procedures. But we can do that. I realize that this area is controversial and perhaps highly charged. But I welcome the debate and ultimately we will make a solution that we believe is in the best interest of the user.
