--- As many of you know, offline capability in apps is a big deal (and complex problem) so unsurprisingly, we have a lot of smart people across the org think about this and work on improving its current state. Over the last few months, I've been working to consolidate our offline efforts into a combined Offline Initiative. It's in a publicly accessible Google Doc[1] for your reading pleasure. What's next? - We're tackling the offline challenge on a number of fronts, among them: -- short-/medium-term support in tools, libraries -- improved developer documentation -- marketplace incentives -- long-term platform support via serviceworkers and other platform improvements What can you do? - read the document and offer your feedback if you have any - get involved if any of the areas mentioned touch your work (or if your work affects the offline initiative) Finally, we're planning on having a Brownbag about the offline initiative on December 11 (invite to follow)!
