Writing to a table via an iterator

Good afternoon,

I am trying to develop a custom iterator that has the ability to write out
data to another table. In the Accumulo book, there is a paragraph that
mentions that this is theoretically possible, however after searching the
internet, I have had no luck learning how this would be possible. Is there
some sort of API that I can use to write to a table from inside the
iterator¹s code?
