    I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind that logic (admittedly, it's 
"early"). Specifically, how would a failure of the local node be any different 
than a failure of a non-local DN in the write pipeline? Also, aren't there 
performance implications when using hflush to avoid the local node (not even 
just the write side, but the read side would be unable to use SCR's when the 
local DN doesn't have those blocks).
