TabletServers are, for the most part, independent of other tabletservers. The only caveat is that they will need to send updates to the tabletserver hosting the accumulo.metadata table, but these are very small in comparison to the amount of data that you are writing.

Architecturally, this is what enables Accumulo to scale near-linearly. [1] "The scalability is almost linear in the case of presplit tables"
