Its unnecessary as non of the assignment are allocating any memory and several
of them can just be removed since they are setting things to what they already
would be anyway. I can't say if its will cause any harm or not, but the
knee-jerk reaction of synchronizing everything in sight usually leads to its
own set of issues.
