It's likely that it does work on .NET Core. Unfortunately, I can't get .NET Core to work on my machine, since I don't use the specific version of Ubuntu Linux that is required. I run Debian Linux. Until Microsoft provides a version of .NET Core that runs on multiple distros, the supported use cases will be very low.
