Artemis 1290 revert fix
I've removed the original fix as it was causing problems with the AMQP
protocol. Given the intention here is for backwards compatibility I've focused
a new commit on only older clients.
You can merge this pull request into a Git repository by running:
$ git pull https://github.com/mtaylor/activemq-artemis

Alternatively you can review and apply these changes as the patch at:
