Hi Apache Airavata community,

I wanted to share that my Google Summer of Code 2026 project officially
concluded on August 24, 2026. I have written a detailed final report
covering the GSoC project goals, work completed during the program, the
current state and remaining work, challenges encountered, and the final
work products. You can find my final report on the Apache Airavata Wiki
here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/AIRAVATA/pages/449285325/CPU+GPU+Checkpoint+and+Restore+for+Airavata+Linkspan

The main work products include three research reports/papers, three pull
requests, and one experiment repository. All of them are explained and
documented in detail on the Apache Airavata Wiki.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity that the Apache Software Foundation
has given me this summer to develop something useful and meaningful. This
experience has enriched my software engineering skills in areas including
HPC interaction, experiment setup, research, testing, and foundational
Linux architecture. I also really enjoyed working collaboratively within
the Apache Airavata community, both through the developer mailing list and
during standup meetings with other developers.

I would especially like to thank my mentors, Dimuthu and Suresh. The
outcomes I achieved would not have been possible without their support and
encouragement. Every meeting we had helped make the direction of the
project clearer and ensured that the work remained meaningful both to the
Apache Software Foundation and to my personal growth. I sincerely
appreciate all of their time, guidance, and support throughout this summer.

Looking forward, even though GSoC has come to an end, I would like to
continue maintaining and improving the checkpoint/restore feature until it
is fully functional and merged into Linkspan's main branch. This may
include resolving integration conflicts, refactoring the codebase, and
addressing any remaining issues.

Thank you all again for your support. It has been a great experience
working with the Apache Airavata community this summer. As a quick
reminder, again, the final report is available here for anyone interested:

Sincerely,
Boyang Gong
