I've noticed project mod dates get updated when a forum thread is viewed. I think this is because we have a view_count on threads. We already have a few workarounds to prevent view_count changes from propagating too much and it looks like we'll need another.
Or would it be better to remove view counts? I am thinking it would be since doing a write action just for a view is causing these problems. It would remove a feature that we've had since the beginning of Allura, but I don't know how useful it is. Especially since the "views" can easily be wrong due to googlebot or just someone hitting the refresh button a zillion times.
